One of my favourite events of 2012 so far and something I’m proud to have been part of.

Day by Day lineup for Hard Working Class Heroes Festival, Dublin

HARD WORKING CLASS HEROES day-by-day breakdown is available below or athttp://hwch.net/schedule_2012.html.

For their 10th birthday, the festival has called on 5 acts who they regard as
Returning Heroes, three to headline Meeting House Square on each night:

And two to headline the Button Factory on Friday 5th - We Cut Corners and The Ambience Affair.

Arthur’s Day 2012 - Thursday 27 September

Press release:

ARTHUR’S DAY CELEBRATIONS TO REACH EVERY CORNER OF IRELAND

OVER 500 LIVE MUSIC EVENTS IN ALL 32 COUNTIES

EXAMPLE, TINIE TEMPAH, ELLIE GOULDING, MIKA, PROFESSOR GREEN, FATBOY SLIM, TEXAS AND AMY MACDONALD JOIN THE BEST OF HOME GROWN ARTISTS FOR THIS YEAR’S ARTHUR’S DAY LINE UP

Today, 15th August: GUINNESS® is delighted to announce that for the first time ever the magic of Arthur’s Day, taking place on 27th September, will be coming to every corner of Ireland with the local pub at the heart of the celebration.

Due to its huge popularity among Irish pub goers and publicans alike, GUINNESS has significantly expanded the Arthur’s Day celebrations since last year to include live music events in local pubs across Ireland so whether you’re from Dingle, Derry or Dublin, it’s never been easier to take part in what is set to be no ordinary Thursdaynight.

This year there are no tickets on sale, just grab some mates and head to one of 500 free Arthur’s Day music events taking place in local pubs across all 32 counties. It promises to be a remarkable night of live music featuring hundreds of home grown artists but, as usual, Arthur’s Day will also be a night full of surprises….

GUINNESS is giving you the chance to bring internationally renowned artists such as Example, Tinie Tempah, Ellie Goulding, Mika, prolific UK rapper Professor Green, Fatboy Slim, Texas and rising star Amy Macdonald to one of the 500 Arthur’s Day music events taking place in a local pub near you. Simply get behind your publican and vote for your local in the run up to Arthur’s Day.

Voting will be open from 15th August to 16th September but in keeping with the spirit of Arthur’s Day, the winning pubs will remain a secret to the public until the night itself so you never know who might walk through the door. Check out www.Guinness.com for full details.

Arthur’s Day artist Tinie Tempah, who has recently had four top 5 singles in the Irish charts, said, “I played Arthur’s Day back in 2010 so I know all about the magic of it. I’m honoured to be invited back to Ireland for 2012 and couldn’t be more excited about playing a pub gig for a small, surprised crowd! We’ll be kick starting the global celebrations in Ireland on September 27th - hope to see you all there!”.

Stuart Kinch, GUINNESS Marketing Manager, Diageo Western Europe said, “Arthur’s Day has always been about people coming together for unique and remarkable music experiences in pubs and venues around the country. This year, we wanted to do more and give everyone the chance to experience the magic of Arthur’s Day by making all events free and giving the public a chance to vote and help bring a headline artist to their local!”

Apart from the change from 38 ticketed music events last year to over 500 free Arthur’s Day music events this year in pubs in all 32 counties, we anticipate many more pubs will also be organising their own celebrations around the country so it promises to be the biggest Arthur’s Day yet with the Arthur Guinness Fund also directly benefiting from the celebration”.

Through the Arthur Guinness Fund, Arthur’s Day supports social entrepreneurs in Ireland and around the world who are in the business of changing communities for the better. This year, for every ‘check-in’ by people to the Arthur’s Day Facebook event, a €5 donation will be made to the Arthur Guinness Fund by GUINNESS. Check out details on how to RSVP and ‘check-in’ on the Guinness Ireland Facebook page.

GUINNESS will be making further exciting announcements in the coming weeks of additional international artists added to the line-up, unique performance collaborations and more surprising ways to enjoy a remarkable Arthur’s Day celebration in Ireland.

HUGE thanks to Darren Lynch and Joe Keenan for being amazing. And to Paul Ohanlon, Liam Allen, Niall Walsh for the lend of camera gear, Martin for lending us the big red van, Cavan leisure complex for letting us be weird in their gym and to everyone who lobbed a few props in our direction!

Lyrics
You say you watch the walls,
What do you see, what do you see?
You say you’ve seen it all,
Do you see me, do you see me?
I see the tired, the weak, the ones who needed sleep
I see the low down dirty wash their hands of the world.
I see the first, the last, the future and the past,
I see your body breathing but your minds asleep

Digging holes, getting old
Now you know why the people don’t love you
Digging Holes, getting old
Now you know, now you know.

You’re turning into stone,
But is it real, is it real?
Like a leper on your throne,
How does it feel, what do you feel?
I feel the strands of time, like branches in my mind
I feel the low down dirty wash their hands in my earth
I feel reborn, alive, for the first time in my life
I feel my body sleeping now my mind can breathe

This could be the start of something new, new
This could be the start of something new…
Digging holes, getting old
Now you know why the people don’t love you
Digging Holes, getting old
Now you know, now you know.

The Freekles - A Girl Like You (Official Music Video) (by DOONWAVE)

I used to hang out with the lead singer of this group. They’re in the Red Bull Bedroom Jam competition and doing well.

Loving the idea behind this. Excellent soundscape being created.
